Arizona Emergency Medical Systems, Inc. (AEMS) is a community-based, volunteer organization committed to enhancing emergency medical services (EMS) and trauma care for the Central Arizona region, encompassing Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, AEMS has been fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and hospital administrators since 1975. Our primary goal is to ensure the coordinated delivery of emergency medical care that effectively addresses the needs of the public.
AEMS functions as the Central Arizona Regional EMS Coordinating System, also known as the Regional EMS Council. This role is undertaken on behalf of the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System (BEMSTS).
AEMS operates under the authority of Arizona Revised Statute A.R.S. §36-2210 and §36-2208, which empowers the organization to facilitate coordination among all entities participating in the EMS system across Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila Counties. Through this mandate, AEMS establishes a communication platform for the various active agencies involved in patient management throughout the broader AEMS region.

AEMS shall facilitate continuous improvement of the diverse components of Emergency Medical Services for the Central Arizona Region, through an inclusive, collaborative, patient-focused, and comprehensive approach, to meet the changing needs of the System and the community.
AEMS shall establish and maintain a partnership with the Prehospital, Hospital, and Medical communities, to provide leadership and guidance of the alliance of providers. AEMS shall facilitate the efficient provision of high quality Emergency Medical Services to the residents of the Central Arizona Region.
