On August 21, 2002, the AEMS Board of Governors, per the recommendation and approval of the Functional Group voting membership, approved the creation of the Trauma Functional Group.

The Trauma Functional Group is empowered by the Board of Governors to continually assess, modify, and facilitate activities that support and enhance the Trauma System for the AEMS region.
