About this Training:
ITLS Pediatric is accepted internationally as the standard training course for prehospital trauma care. It's used as a state-of-the-art continuing education course and as an essential curriculum in many First Responder, EMT and EMT-Paramedic training programs.   ITLS Pediatric continues the training of the Basic and Advanced courses with an emphasis on understanding and responding to trauma in children.

The ITLS Pediatric combines classroom learning and hands-on skill stations. Scenario assessment stations enable you to put your learning to work in simulated pediatric trauma situations.  This eight-hour course teaches the proper assessment, stabilization and packaging of pediatric trauma patients. It also highlights techniques for communicating with young patients and their parents.  Hands-on stations include:  patient assessment and management; airway management and chest decompression; fluid resuscitation; and spine motion restriction - pediatric immobilization devices.

Course Instructors:
Amy Boise, NREMT-P, FP-C, has been active in EMS education for the past 15 years.  She is an instructor for ACLS, PALS, BLS, and ITLS  or you may know her from ALS Refresher or advanced skills labs across AZ.  Since 1996 Amy has been the AZ Chapter Coordinator and is currently serving her 3rd term on the ITLS Board of Directors. She teaches and flys part time with Eagle AirMed..   Jim Boise, R.N., CFRN, is a Pediatric Trauma Coordinator with Maricopa Integrated Health Systems.

Prerequisites:
Completion and submission of a pre-course written self-assessment test is required.  This test will be reviewed during the course.

Intended Audience:
This comprehensive training course is designed for providers who are first to evaluate and stabilize the pediatric trauma patient. The courses provide training in the skills needed for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of pediatric trauma patients.  This course is designed for basic or advanced providers.
